Italy's troubled national airline Alitalia is unable to guarantee flights from Monday because it is unable to pay outstanding bills.

About time. The issue is the union's refusal to agree to anything other than business as usual as the airline goes broke.

The upside is there will be several options for an Italian airline to reform once the company shuts down.
