New DFW service with Japan/Taiwan bilateral?

Postby Greg on Mon Dec 14, 2009 4:45 pm

With Taiwan and Japan finalizing a revised bilateral air service deal which includes the opening of Tokyo Haneda and Taipei Sung Shan from October 2010, it should be noted that slots for Osaka and Nagoya are now expanded from 28 to up to 45 times a week. Dallas, along with Los Angeles and Houston, are now allowed 5th Freedom traffic rights to these cities.

So we could see, for example, a Tokyo Haneda-DFW-Amsterdam run, with passengers able to purchase tickets on Japan Air Lines or ANA from DFW-AMS, or routes similar to that. What are the chances of that in the future? Judging by the lack of new routes that popped up after the Open Skies agreement, it would seem slim.
