DFW Foreign Carrier Estimated August 2017 Loads

Postby Greg on Fri Oct 13, 2017 9:42 am

Here are the estimated load factors for the foreign carriers at DFW for August 2017. Interjet stands out again for struggling, barely filling half their available seats. The DFW route clearly calls for the smaller Sukhoi SSJ-100 rather than the 150 seat Airbus A320... perhaps there is not enough frames available? Or are there cargo considerations? Obviously the Avianca numbers are off, they must have snuck in a few A319/320s but I don't know how many or their seats on each, so I wouldn't put much stock in their numbers, hence the strikethrough.

British Airways ran 28 flights, including four on Boeing 787 frames, the first time those have appeared at DFW. As for Cayman Airlines, who knows. Six flights and 35% of the seats filled. Same story for those guys. WestJet seems to have finally figured out which aircraft works best for DFW-YYC - the 737-600.

How did we arrive at the data?
I took publicly available seat counts and other published data showing available data and came up with these estimates. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy, but I think we are fairly close to the true numbers. OAG, Various “Source” websites, airline sites etc.

Assumptions:
AeroMexico – 62 flights with 99 seats
Air Canada - 151 flights with 73 seats, 31 flights with 75 seats
Avianca - 17 flights with 96 seats??
British Airways - 17 flights with 337 seats, seven flights with 275 seats, two flights with 216 seats, two flights with 214 seats
Emirates - 31 flights with 354 seats
Etihad - 31 flights with 239 seats
Interjet - 54 flights with 150 seats
Japan Airlines - 31 flights with 161 seats
Korean - 22 flights with 248 seats
Lufthansa - 31 flights with 216 seats
Qantas - 28 flights with 484 seats inbound and 355 seats outbound (lower outbound estimate for blocked seats)
Qatar - 31 flights with 358 seats
Volaris – 13 flights with 179 seats
WestJet - 22 flights with 113 seats, four flights with 134 seats
