DFW Foreign Carrier Estimated September 2019 Loads

Postby Greg on Thu Nov 21, 2019 12:53 pm

Here are the estimated load factors for the foreign carriers at DFW for September 2019. Japan and Lufthansa in the 90% club, while everyone else starts to slow down a bit as summer comes to its end. Nothing alarming for anyone really, Volaris at 57 percent but just 26 flights anyway.

EDIT -
Apparently one of the British Airways flights was essentially a Houston flight that had been canceled, with everyone put on a bus and sent up to DFW and flown on another BA flight. Anyhow, that's included as well.

How did we arrive at the data?
I took publicly available seat counts and other published data showing available data and came up with these estimates. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy, but I think we are fairly close to the true numbers. OAG, Various Source websites, airline sites etc.

Assumptions:
AeroMexico - 30 flights with 99 seats
Air Canada - 176 flights with 76 seats
Air France - 12 flights with 224 seats, one flight with 208 seats
Avianca - 19 flights with 120 seats, 10 flights with 150 seats
British Airways – 11 flights with 219 seats, nine flights with 226 seats
Emirates - 30 flights with 354 seats
Interjet - 40 flights with 150 seats, three flights with 162 seats
Japan Airlines - 30 flights with 195 seats
Korean - 22 flights with 277 seats
Lufthansa - 30 flights with 255 seats
Qantas – 26 flights with 484 seats inbound and 384 seats outbound (lower outbound estimate for blocked seats)
Qatar – 30 flights with 327 seats
Volaris - 26 flights with 179 seats

Thanks as usual for the detailed data, Greg.

I worked with your info and reviewed the report by the Mexican Aviation Authority (DGAC) as well, thus estimating American Airlines' load factors in the Mexico City - Dallas route:

37,714 total passengers transported in 286 flights made in the DFW-MEX-DFW route, averaging 132 passengers per flight and a load factor of approximately 90.4%.

In terms of market share in the very same DFW-MEX-DFW route:

AAL.... 71.6%
AIJ..... 19.6%
SLI...... 8.7%

All the best,

Mayer
