LATAM leaving OneWorld...what that means for DFW

Postby JGFrisco on Wed Dec 04, 2019 6:28 am

LATAM is leaving OneWorld next October, and they are starting codeshare agreements with Delta. That certainly means we won’t be getting any flights on them from their hubs, and that means we are also shut out from the two largest carrier groups in South America (them and Avianca).

We have flights right now to three of their hubs...Sao Paulo, Lima, and Santiago. I don’t know that we get a lot of connecting traffic from LATAM off these so I bet we don’t lose them, but we won’t be getting any new ones for a good while.

There are not any other major legacy style carriers in SA for AA to partner with, but I could see them working on some limited agreements with Gol or Azul. Neither of these is likely to get DFW any new flights to SA though.
