DFW Foreign Carrier Estimated June 2019 Loads

Postby Greg on Mon Aug 19, 2019 1:27 pm

Here are the estimated load factors for the foreign carriers at DFW for June 2019. All I can say is wow, some of these are really crazy, even for summer. Emirates at 94.5% overall, and 98.58% departing - just five open seats per day of 354. AeroMexico with a stellar month, particularly departing at 96%. (To be fair, I'm not sure if they are running some charters this summer, if so, I don't know those flights or seat counts and could be inflating their numbers.) Lufthansa and Qatar filled to the gills on departures too. Qatar had nine Boeing 777s flights and 21 with the Airbus A350-1000.

Nice to see Interjet at 85%. Volaris added a few flights to Durango, so they have more flights than their usual 14 or 15.

How did we arrive at the data?
I took publicly available seat counts and other published data showing available data and came up with these estimates. I do not guarantee 100% accuracy, but I think we are fairly close to the true numbers. OAG, Various Source websites, airline sites etc.

AeroMexico - 60 flights with 99 seats
Air Canada - 175 flights with 76 seats
Air France - 12 flights with 224 seats, one flights with 208 seats
Avianca - 27 flights with 150 seats, two flights with 153 seats, one flight with 120 seats
British Airways – 30 flights with 226 seats
Emirates - 30 flights with 354 seats
Interjet - 50 flights with 150 seats, one flight with 162 seats
Japan Airlines - 30 flights with 195 seats
Korean - 22 flights with 277 seats
Lufthansa - 30 flights with 255 seats
Qantas – 26 flights with 484 seats inbound and 355 seats outbound (lower outbound estimate for blocked seats)
Qatar – 21 flights with 327 seats, nine flights with 354 seats
Volaris - 22 flights with 179 seats

Greg, thanks as usual for the detailed data.

I worked with your info and reviewed the report by the Mexican Aviation Authority (DGAC) as well, thus estimating American Airlines' load factors in the Mexico City - Dallas route:

37,029 total passengers transported in 300 flights made in the DFW-MEX-DFW route, averaging 123 passengers per flight and a load factor of approximately 87.1%.

In terms of market share in the very same DFW-MEX-DFW route:

AAL.... 61%
AIJ..... 21.5%
SLI..... 17.5%

Since Volaris introduced the new flight between DFW and DGO I was unable to determine its passengers and load factor both in that route and in the DFW-GDL-DFW route. Same for American in the latter, sorry.
